Blackjack (for fun)
Free online blackjack with the whole rule set on the page: 6 decks, dealer stands on soft 17, 3:2 payouts, and a one-line review of how you played each hand.
🕹️ How to play
- Place your bet: Tap chips from the tray to bet: 10, 50, 100 and 500, with a 10 minimum and a 500 maximum per hand. Use undo to take one chip back or clear to start over. The deal button lights up once there are chips in the circle; tap it and you get two cards face up while the dealer gets one up and one down.
- Read your total: Cards 2 through 10 are worth face value, jacks, queens and kings are worth 10, and an ace counts as 1 or 11 — whichever keeps you under 22. A hand with an ace still worth 11 is soft, and the readout shows it as two numbers, for example 7 / 17, so you never have to do the ace maths yourself.
- Hit, stand, double or split: Hit takes one more card, stand passes the hand to the dealer, double doubles your bet for exactly one more card, and split turns a pair into two hands with their own bets. Actions you cannot take are greyed out with the reason spelled out, such as double (not enough chips), and tapping them does nothing at all.
- Watch the dealer play it out: The dealer makes no choices: it turns the hole card over, draws on anything below 17 and stands on 17 or more, including soft 17. You win by finishing closer to 21 than the dealer without busting, or when the dealer busts. Equal totals push and your bet comes back.
- Replay the exact same deal: The shoe is reshuffled before every hand, so the whole deal is decided by the seed printed on the settlement card. Tap replay this deal to get the identical cards again and try a different line. A replay never touches your chips or your stats.
📖 Rules & variants
Table rules: this table deals from 6 decks (312 cards) and reshuffles the whole shoe before every hand, which is why counting across hands does nothing here. The dealer draws on 16 or less and stands on all 17s, including soft 17 (S17). When the dealer shows an ace or a ten the hole card is checked first, so a dealer blackjack ends the hand before you can waste chips doubling or splitting into it.
Payouts: an ace plus a ten-value card in your first two cards is a blackjack and pays 3:2. An ordinary win pays 1:1, equal totals push and return your bet, and busting loses the bet on that hand. Insurance is offered only when the dealer shows an ace, costs half your bet rounded down and pays 2:1. Every rate on this page is a net rate, and the settlement card keeps stake, returned and net in three separate columns instead of mixing the two conventions.
Doubling down: you may double on any first two cards. The bet doubles, you get exactly one more card, and the hand stands automatically. Doubling after a split is allowed (DAS), but split aces may not be doubled. If your remaining chips cannot cover a second bet, the double button is disabled with the reason shown, and the keyboard shortcut is ignored too.
Splitting: any two cards of equal value can be split, and because 10, J, Q and K are all ten-value cards they can be paired with each other. You can split up to 3 hands (two splits), and each hand carries its own bet and is settled on its own. Split aces are special: each gets exactly one card and then stands, cannot be re-split and cannot be doubled, and 21 made from a split counts as a plain 21 paying 1:1, not as a blackjack.
Chips and bankroll: you start with 1000 chips in denominations of 10, 50, 100 and 500, and every bet is a multiple of 10, so all payouts stay whole numbers and fractional chips never appear. If your balance drops below the 10 minimum, the settlement card's main button becomes a one-tap reset back to 1000 and your statistics are kept. All chips are play money: there is no deposit, no cash-out and no real-money wagering anywhere on the page.
Basic strategy: basic strategy is a table of plays derived from the maths of this exact rule set, and it cuts the house edge to roughly 0.5%. It improves the long run only and guarantees nothing about any single hand. After each hand this page shows one line naming the first decision that differed from basic strategy and why. Nothing is ever suggested before you act, nothing is blocked, and turning the coach off in settings also silences the one-time hints.
Where your record lives: your balance, win-loss record, strategy accuracy and hint history are stored only in this browser — no account, no upload, no leaderboard. With storage blocked or in private mode the game stays fully playable; it simply starts from 1000 again after a reload, and a line at the top of the table says so.
