🕹️ How to play

  1. How to start a dice duel: The page opens ready to play: two players, three dice each, highest total wins, one roll decides. Tap Roll! and both sides settle at once, with each total and who is ahead by how many pips. Use the gear icon to change players, dice count, rule or format.
  2. How to keep dice and reroll: After the first roll everyone sees every die. Tap the dice you want to reroll — they lift up with a dashed ring and the button reads Reveal! (reroll N dice). Tap Reveal! (keep all) to stand pat. Everyone decides at the same time and the marked dice are rerolled together.
  3. How the result is shown: The verdict strip shows both final totals and the winner, whose seat card turns gold. When the match ends a result card lists the score, who takes the penalty and every roll, with pre-reroll values struck through. Play again keeps the settings and the running match score.

📖 Rules & variants

Basic rules: every player rolls the same number of dice (1-5, default 3). 'Total · high wins' compares sums; 'Total · low wins' flips it; 'Triple > Pair > High' uses exactly three dice. Six is high and one is low.

Triples, pairs and high: a triple beats a pair, a pair beats three different faces. Triples compare their face, pairs compare only the paired face (the odd die does not count), and high hands compare their total. So 3-5-6 (High 14) still loses to 2-2-6 (Pair of 2s).

Keep and reroll: after the first roll everyone may mark any of their own dice, then anyone taps Reveal! and all marked dice are rerolled together — once per player per round. Tiebreak rolls never allow keeping. You can switch rerolls off for a pure-luck version.

Tie breaker: only the players tied at the top (find the winner) or the bottom (find the loser) roll again; everyone else is frozen as safe or out. Tiebreaks repeat until someone is decided, so a match never ends in a draw. Two players look for the winner; three or more default to finding the loser.

Formats and score: one roll decides, best of 3 or best of 5 (first to win / lose N with 3+ players). Play again keeps a running match score; changing players, names or goal resets it. Penalties can be a sip, a move, a truth question or just keeping score.

Strategy: when behind, keep your high dice and reroll the low ones — rerolling everything is usually worst. Example: you roll 6-2-1 (9) against 5-5-1 (11). Keeping the 6 wins about 72% if they stand pat, but only about 38% if they reroll their 1. Under the low rule, reroll the high dice instead.

❓ FAQ

What happens on a tie in a high roll dice game?
Only the players tied for the deciding spot roll again, with all their dice and no keeping, until one is decided. Everyone else keeps their dice frozen. With three or more players looking for the loser, only those tied for the lowest hand roll off.
Do triples beat pairs in a 3 dice game?
Yes: triples beat pairs, and pairs beat three different faces. Within a class, triples and pairs compare the matched face and high hands compare the total, so a pair of 6s beats a pair of 5s and 6-6-2 ties 6-6-5.
How many dice should you use for a dice duel?
Three dice each is the sweet spot: with one die about 1 roll in 6 is a tie, with three dice only about 1 in 11 (9.3%). Two dice tie about 11.3% of the time. Use four or five dice for more comeback room; the triples rule always uses three.
Can you reroll in a dice compare game?
Yes, once per round: after seeing every first roll, tap the dice you want to reroll and everyone reveals together. Nobody sees the others' new dice before deciding, so there is no second-mover advantage. Tiebreak rolls are straight rolls with no keeping.
How do you play a dice drinking game with 3 or more people?
Pick Find the loser: each round the worst hand takes a loss, the first to reach the needed losses takes the penalty, and ties for last roll off. Up to six players can share one screen, each with their own seat card.
What are non-drinking penalties for a dice game?
Switch the penalty to a move, a truth question or just keeping score — it can change mid-match without resetting anything. When the sip penalty is on, the result card notes that a soft drink works too. For more ideas, spin the punishment wheel after the match.

⚠️ For entertainment only. Contains drinking elements — adults only, drink responsibly. Penalties can be swapped for moves, truth questions or score only; every roll is independent random with no items or paid boosts, and nobody should be pressured to drink.
