Name 3 in 5 Seconds
A pass-the-phone party game: flip a card, start the timer, name 3 things in 5 seconds, let the group judge, and steal the points when someone blanks.
🕹️ How to play
- How do you start a game?: Pick 2–12 players in seating order and tap Start game. The defaults are Easy cards, a 5-second timer, 3 laps and steal rounds on. Open More to type names or change difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard or Ramp up), the timer (5, 7 or 10 seconds) or the number of laps.
- How does a turn work?: The screen shows who answers and who reads. The reader says the card out loud, then taps Start. The answerer names 3 things that fit before the ring runs out, and can tap Done! to stop the clock early. When time is up, everyone decides: got all 3, got 2, or missed.
- What happens on a miss?: With steal rounds on, the same card goes to the next player with a fresh timer. Name 3 without repeating anything already said and you steal 1 point. Up to two players can try; if nobody gets it, the card stumped everyone. Three possible answers appear after each card, then pass the phone on.
📖 Rules & variants
Scoring: getting all 3 is worth 2 points, getting 2 is worth 1, and a miss scores nothing. A successful steal earns the stealer 1 point. Scores never go down, and a mistaken call can be undone once from the result screen.
The timer waits at full while the card is read, so reading never eats into the answer time. It only starts when the reader taps Start, and the last 2 seconds turn red. Tapping Done! early records the time for the Quickest tongue award but adds no points.
Steal rounds only happen after a miss. The card passes to the players sitting after the answerer, up to two tries (one in a two-player game). Stealers can't repeat answers already given; the group decides what counts. Turn steals off in the settings for faster turns.
Winning: everyone answers once per lap (2, 3 or 5 laps) and the highest total wins, with equal scores sharing a place. If first place is tied, play a tiebreak card: each tied player answers once, no steals, up to three tiebreaks. You can also end early from the menu.
House rules: whoever finishes last does a silly impression; count only full answers; give kids 10 seconds on Easy; or turn steals off in big groups. New players can join mid-game from the card screen and are marked as joined late in the results.
