🕹️ How to play

  1. How to start playing Flappy Bird online: Just open the page — no download or sign-up. Tap the screen (or press Space / click on desktop) and the bird flaps up; let go and gravity pulls it down. The first tap launches the round, and you keep tapping to hold your height.
  2. How to steer the bird through the pipes: The bird has one move: a tap gives a fixed upward boost. Use small, steady taps to hold altitude and aim for the middle of each pipe gap. Don't hold the button, and don't over-tap into the ceiling — line up the gap's center before you reach it.
  3. How scoring and speed-up work in Tap Bird: You score +1 for every pair of pipes you clear, so your score is the number of pipes you've flown through. The higher your score, the faster the pipes scroll and the harder it gets — the tap feel (gravity and boost) never changes, only the speed.
  4. What perfect passes and feather revives are: Clear a gap with the bird close to its centre and it counts as a "perfect pass", tracked separately in the HUD. Three perfects in a row drop one feather (up to three). Crash while holding three feathers and you can spend them to revive once — once per run only. Feathers are earned purely by flying accurately: no ads, no payment. If you'd rather not have them, switch Feather revive off in Settings and it's one hit and done.
  5. How today's route works: Turn on Today's route in Settings and everyone playing that day gets the same pipe sequence: Classic difficulty, no beginner warm-up and no revive, so scores compare directly. It is derived from your local date — fully client-side, no network, no account — rolls over at midnight, and keeps a separate record of your best run today.
  6. What happens when you hit a pipe or the ground: Touch a pipe or the ground and the run is over. The board freezes for about 0.6s so you can see exactly what you hit, then the result card names the surface — top pipe, bottom pipe or ground — gives one concrete tip, and shows the pipes cleared, your perfect passes and the best for that difficulty. There are no lives by default; the only exception is the feather revive you earn yourself (switchable off in Settings).

📖 Rules & variants

Basic rules: in a portrait field the bird is fixed toward the left while pairs of top-and-bottom pipes scroll in from the right at a steady speed. You fly the bird through the gap in each pair. Gravity constantly pulls it down; a tap gives one upward boost, and hitting a pipe or the ground ends the run.

Scoring: you get +1 for each pair of pipes you pass, so your score equals the pipes cleared, with no time bonus or combo multiplier. Threading a gap through its centre also records a "perfect pass" — worth no points, it only feeds feathers and measures how precisely you are flying. At the end the run is compared against the best for the difficulty you played; Chill, Classic and Fast each keep their own record and never contaminate each other.

Does it get harder: yes. The higher your score, the faster the pipes scroll, up to a speed cap. On top of that the pipe shape changes every 6 pipes (steady, stagger, narrow-and-far, wide-and-close, drifting air), moving gap size, spacing and speed together — so later stretches cannot be cleared by repeating the previous stretch's rhythm. Gravity and the tap boost never change, keeping the feel consistent.

What the three difficulties change: Chill, Classic and Fast change the gap height, starting scroll speed and how forgiving the feel is. Chill has a bigger gap, scrolls slower and is more forgiving; Classic sits in the middle; Fast has a narrower gap and scrolls faster.

Why Flappy Bird feels so hard: gravity is constant, the gap is narrow and there's little margin for error — plus it speeds up and, by default, it's one hit and done with no lives (the only exception being a feather revive you earned yourself). Steady, rhythmic taps aimed at the gap's center get you further than panicked mashing.

How many players: solo high-score chasing is the main mode, playable instantly. For a group, turn on pass-and-play so 2–8 people take turns on one phone; when everyone's done it ranks by pipes cleared, and using the same pipe sequence keeps 'who flies furthest' fair.

❓ FAQ

How do you play Flappy Bird?
Tap anywhere on the field (or press Space) to flap the bird up, and let it fall when you don't — fly through the gap in each pair of pipes. Every pair you clear scores 1 point, and hitting a pipe or the ground ends the run. Threading the centre of a gap also counts a perfect pass, and three in a row earn a feather.
How do you control the bird in Flappy Bird?
The bird has just one action — a tap gives a fixed upward boost — so you keep height with steady small taps rather than holding down. Even, gentle taps are easier to control than mashing; over-tapping bumps the ceiling and skipping a tap drops you.
What are the best tips to get a high score in Flappy Bird?
The key is rhythm and aiming for the gap's center: keep height with even little taps and line up the gap before you reach it, without slamming into the ceiling or dropping too low. As the score rises the pipes speed up, so stay calm and keep a fixed tapping beat.
Why is Flappy Bird so hard?
Because gravity pulls constantly, the gap is narrow and the margin is tiny — and it speeds up as you score while staying one-hit, no-lives. It's all about touch and timing, so practicing a steady tapping rhythm is what lets you fly further.
What happens if you hit a pipe in Flappy Bird?
Touching a pipe — top or bottom — or landing on the ground ends the run immediately, with no second chance. The result shows how many pipes you cleared this run and your local best, and Play Again restarts you instantly.
What is Flappy Bird and who made it?
Flappy Bird is a tap-to-fly game made in 2013 by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen; it went viral for being brutally hard and was later pulled by its creator. This 'Tap Bird' page is a pure front-end web version of the same kind of play, free with no download.

⚠️ This is a pure front-end web game: gameplay never needs the network, your best score stays only on this device, and it is just for casual fun.
