🕹️ How to play

  1. Set your group size and props (optional): By default the deck deals rules for 3–6 players with no props needed. Got dice or a deck of cards, or a bigger crowd? Change the filters and every deal follows them.
  2. Deal three rules and pick one: Each card shows a title, a one-line rule and its player and prop tags. Don't like them? Deal a new batch — rules already shown tonight are held back. Set the house version (like whether Buzz also counts multiples of 7) and start: it locks for the whole rule.
  3. Tap Penalty when someone slips, End rule when you're done: The host judges, the page keeps count. Wrong call? Undo. Add names and penalties go to the right person. Ending a rule shows the time, the count and who hosts next; deal another or wrap up the night to see the steadiest player.

📖 Rules & variants

The host holds the phone, reads the rule out and calls the penalties. The old custom is that whoever takes a penalty hosts the next rule, so when a rule ends this page names the next host: whoever took the most penalties, with ties going to the most recent one. No penalties means the host stays on.

Dealing: every deal shows three rules that match your filters. Everything you've been shown is remembered, so a new batch always tries unseen rules first. Once you've seen every rule for those filters, the page tells you it's starting another lap instead of quietly repeating.

House versions: plenty of drinking games are played differently from table to table — does Buzz count only numbers with a 7, or multiples of 7 too? Set the switches before you start; they lock and stay on screen until you end the rule. Arguments happen in the ten seconds before, not in the middle.

Table rules like Thumb Master, Question Master or No Pointing stay in force until you take them down. They sit in an 'In force' bar at the top of the screen, three at most, and you can log a penalty, undo it or remove the rule by tapping the chip.

Penalties: rule text only ever says 'penalty'. Your table picks what that means in settings — your pick (a sip of any drink, a truth or a small dare), one sip, a truth, a small dare or points only. One sip is the cap: no doubling, and nobody is celebrated for taking the most.

Tips: with a new crowd, start with chill call-out rules like Opposite Orders or Big Circle Small Circle. For rhythm games start the metronome slow and step it up each lap. Keep two table rules at most — any more and people forget them.

Example: four players start Buzz with both versions on. Sam takes two penalties, Alex one, so Sam hosts next. Then Banned Word goes up and Jo slips once. After Tiger Stick Chicken, Mia has zero penalties all night and ends up the steadiest player.

❓ FAQ

What are some easy drinking games with no cards or cups?
Buzz, Opposites, Nose Goes, Don't Say 21 and Red Light, Green Light need nothing but voices and hands. This page's default filter is 'no props', so every deal is playable empty-handed. Tick dice or cards in the filters to unlock Liar's Dice, High Card and friends.
How do you play Buzz as a drinking game?
Count up around the table and clap instead of saying any number with a 7 or any multiple of 7. Say it out loud, clap on the wrong number or stall, and you take the penalty and restart from 1. Some tables only clap on 7s — set that as the house version before you start.
What is the Thumb Master rule?
The Thumb Master can quietly rest a thumb on the table at any time; everyone who notices copies, and the last player to do it takes a penalty. It stays in force until the rule comes down. Here it lives in the 'In force' bar, so nobody forgets who holds it.
What drinking games work for just 2 people?
Tiger Stick Chicken, Opposites, Word Chain, Rock Paper Scissors and table rules like Questions Only all work with two. Set the player filter to 2 and every deal will be two-player friendly. With dice, High Roll and Liar's Dice work head to head too.
How can you play drinking games without alcohol?
Swap the penalty, not the game. Set the penalty to a truth, a small dare or points only and every rule works the same. The default is 'your pick', so each person chooses a sip of any drink, a truth or a small dare when penalised.
What drinking games are good for large groups?
Pass-it games like Hot Potato and Telephone, count-offs like Count to Twenty and table rules like Question Master scale well to 7–12 players. Set the player filter to 7+ and the deck only deals rules that handle big tables.

⚠️ For entertainment only and for adults of legal drinking age. Drink responsibly; under-18s should use soft drinks. Penalties can be a truth, a small dare or points only — nobody ever has to drink.
