🕹️ How to play

  1. Pick a mode and the player count, then tap Deal roles: Choose Werewolf (6–12 players) or Mafia (5–16). Roles fill in from a balanced preset — 9 players is 3 werewolves, 3 villagers, seer, witch and hunter. Names are optional. A short house-rules card follows so the table agrees on things like whether the witch may save herself before anyone sees a role.
  2. Pass the phone round so everyone sees their role in private: The screen says who to hand the phone to. That player taps to reveal, sees their role, a one-line ability and (for werewolves) their teammates, then taps Hide and passes it on. Nothing identifying is on screen between players.
  3. Give the phone to the narrator and read the script: Each night step shows the exact line to read aloud and a seat grid to tap the target the players point at. The witch step shows tonight's victim; the seer step shows good or werewolf with a hand-signal hint. Made a mistake? Step back before dawn.
  4. Reveal the night, run the day, let it call the winner: Tap Reveal and it announces who died, or a peaceful night. Run the discussion timer, then enter who was voted out or a tie. Hunter shots and the idiot's reveal are prompted automatically, the winner is checked after every announcement, and the recap lists every night's actions.

📖 Rules & variants

Two modes. Mafia (5–16 players): about a quarter mafia and a quarter detectives, the rest townsfolk, plus an optional doctor from 7 players. Werewolf (6–12): werewolves kill each night, the seer checks one player, the witch holds one healing and one poison potion, the guard protects one player, the hunter shoots when eliminated, and the idiot survives being voted out.

Wake order: Werewolf is everyone sleeps → guard → werewolves → witch → seer → dawn; Mafia is everyone sleeps → mafia → detectives → doctor → dawn. The order depends on which roles are in the game, not who is alive — a dead seer is still called and the narrator waits a few seconds, so nobody learns who is gone.

Night deaths: a victim who is guarded, or saved by the witch, survives — but guarded AND saved on the same night counts as dead by default (switchable). Poison ignores the guard. Each potion is single use, only one per night, and by default the witch cannot save herself. Once the heal is used, the witch is no longer told who was attacked. The guard cannot protect the same player two nights running.

Day: deaths are announced by seat number without causes; first-night victims get last words. A hunter killed at night may shoot (not if poisoned). After discussion the table votes; a tie means nobody is eliminated. The idiot survives being voted out but loses their vote.

Winning: the village wins when every werewolf is out. By default the wolves win by wiping out one side (all special roles or all villagers); switch to 'all good players' for a longer game. If both happen in the same announcement, it's a draw.

❓ FAQ

How do you narrate a game of Werewolf?
Call roles in a fixed order, keep your eyes on the script, and never reveal how someone died. With this app you read the line on screen, tap the seat the players point at, and tap Reveal at dawn — it works out the deaths for you. Pause before announcing deaths and still call roles that are already out.
What order does the narrator wake roles in Werewolf?
A common order is: everyone sleeps, guard, werewolves, witch, seer, then dawn. The guard goes before the wolves because protection has to be chosen before the kill; the witch goes after them so she knows who was attacked. In Mafia it's mafia, then detectives, then the doctor.
How many werewolves should there be for 9 players?
Three werewolves for nine players is the usual balance: 3 werewolves, 3 villagers, a seer, a witch and a hunter. Roughly a third of the table on the bad side keeps it fair. The app suggests a setup for 6–12 players and lets you adjust each role.
Can the witch save herself in Werewolf?
In most beginner games the witch cannot save herself, and that is this app's default. If the wolves attack the witch, the save button is disabled with the reason shown; you can allow self-saves in the settings. She can only use one potion per night either way.
How do you play Werewolf without cards?
Deal roles from one phone: hand it to each player in turn, they tap to see their role privately, then tap Hide before passing it on. Nothing identifying stays on screen between players, and reloading the page never shows a role.
