Karaoke Playlist Draw

A karaoke song jar for your group: everyone adds songs they can sing, you take turns drawing one, nothing repeats, and a can't-sing-it card can become a duet, go back to whoever wrote it, or use a limited pass

🕹️ How to play

  1. Try a draw, then write your list: Tap "Try a draw" to flip a sample slip and see how the jar works. Then tap "Write our playlist" and paste songs one per line — "Song - Artist" gets split automatically, list numbers and bullets are stripped, and duplicates are skipped. The counter under the box shows how many songs it found.
  2. Add who's here for a karaoke rotation: Type 2 to 12 names in seat order and the jar runs a rotation: everyone draws once per round, in order. Skip the names and it's a free draw for whoever wants the mic. Tap a name under "Songs written by" before pasting to tag those songs as theirs — the card will say whose list it came from.
  3. Draw, then decide: Tap "Start drawing". Whoever is up taps the card or "Draw a song"; it flips in 0.7 s (tap to skip). "I'll sing it" moves on to the next person. "Make it a duet" lets you pick a partner, "Hand to…" gives a song back to the friend who wrote it, and "Pass" sinks the card to the bottom of the jar and flips another — passes are limited.
  4. Reshuffle or wrap up: When the jar is empty you can reshuffle for a second go, add a few songs, or wrap up. Wrapping up shows tonight's setlist: total songs, duets, hand-overs, how many times each person sang, the top songwriter, and every song in order — one tap copies it for the group chat.

📖 Rules & variants

This page only picks the song and whose turn it is. It ships no song list, plays no audio or lyrics and reads no streaming links — your karaoke machine or app still plays the track; this is the second screen on the table.

No repeats: within one pass through the jar every song comes up exactly once, and the "in jar" counter is always on screen. Songs only return after you tap "Reshuffle the jar"; second-pass songs are marked in the setlist. Songs you add mid-night are slipped into the undrawn part so they still come up this pass.

Rotation: with 2 or more names everyone draws once per round in seat order, and the jar announces when a round is done. The mode is locked for the night once you start; you can still add people (they join at the end) or remove them down to 2. If the person who is up leaves while holding an undecided card, it goes back on top of the jar, no pass spent.

Three ways out, cheapest first: a duet costs nothing but needs a willing partner; "Hand to…" only appears when someone present wrote the song — they sing and you give up your turn; a pass is scarce (1 per person per night by default, 0–5 in settings, shared by the room in free draw) and sends the card to the bottom of the jar.

Your own songs: in a rotation the jar prefers songs somebody else wrote. It skips your own slips and returns them to the bottom in order — no reshuffle — and if only your own songs are left it deals the top one and marks it "You wrote this one".

The setlist counts, it doesn't judge: no winner, no ranking, no singing score. The only title is "top songwriter" — whoever wrote the most songs that got sung, with ties all listed.

Refreshing isn't a redraw: a card is saved the moment it's drawn, so reloading shows the same card, the same person and the same pass count. Up to 10 playlists ("Office party", "Family") are kept in this browser; to move to another phone, copy the playlist text and paste it there.

❓ FAQ

How do you play the karaoke song jar game?
Everyone writes songs they can sing, then you take turns drawing one and singing whatever comes up. Paste the list one song per line, add who's here, and tap Start drawing. Whoever is up draws a card showing the song, the artist and whose list it came from; they sing it, turn it into a duet, hand it back to the friend who wrote it, or spend a pass. Wrap up to get tonight's setlist.
How do I pick a random song from my own list without repeats?
Draw without replacement: this jar never deals the same song twice until you reshuffle. Every drawn song leaves the jar, the remaining count stays on screen, and only "Reshuffle the jar" brings them back. Duplicate lines in your paste are skipped too, even when the capitalisation, spacing or full-width characters differ.
What do you do at karaoke if you get a song you can't sing?
Make it a duet, hand it to whoever wrote it, or use your one pass. A duet costs nothing if someone joins you. If a friend in the room wrote that song, "Hand to…" lets them sing it while you give up your turn. A pass sends the card to the bottom of the jar and flips another — you get one per night by default, so save it for a song you truly don't know.
How do you set up a fair karaoke rotation?
Go round in seat order, one song per person per round — nobody hogs the mic and nobody gets skipped. Enter names clockwise and the screen always shows "Round N · Up: name", so the phone just gets passed along. The jar also prefers songs someone else wrote, which keeps each draw a surprise.
How many songs should each person add for a karaoke night?
Three to five songs each that you can actually sing, and at least as many songs as people. With fewer songs than singers the jar runs dry mid-round and needs a reshuffle. Four to six friends with 3–5 songs each gives you one to two hours. Add a few crowd-pleaser duets so "Make it a duet" always has an easy yes.
Can I import a Spotify or Apple Music playlist into a random song picker?
Not by link, but any playlist you can copy out as text works — paste it one song per line. The page never goes online or reads a music app. "Song - Artist" lines are split automatically, list numbers and bullets are stripped, and hyphens inside a title are left alone. A playlist holds up to 300 songs.

⚠️ This page only draws songs and tracks turns — no backing tracks, no lyrics, no built-in song lists; every title comes from you. No sign-up, no download, no network use while playing; playlists stay in this browser on this device.
