Stop at 10 Seconds
Press start, the numbers disappear, stop the timer at exactly 10.00 by feel — solo practice or 2–8 players passing one phone
🕹️ How to play
- How to play the 10 second challenge: Tap Start on the big dial. The numbers disappear straight away, so count to ten in your head and tap Stop. You first see whether you were early or late and by how much, then your real time and tier. Tap the dial again for another go.
- How to play with friends on one phone: Switch to Take turns, enter 2–8 names (shuffle the order if you like) and press Start. Each time is sealed as soon as the player stops; they can peek and hide it, then pass the phone. When everyone is done, the ranking is revealed from last place up.
- How to change the target or turn on no going over: Open More rules to pick a 5, 10 or 20 second target, or switch on No going over, where any stop past the target is a bust. Solo players can also use Warm-up to practise with the numbers visible; warm-up stops are not recorded.
📖 Rules & variants
Scoring: the time from pressing Start to pressing Stop is rounded to the nearest 0.01 s, and the number you see is exactly the number that is judged. Only 10.00 counts as a bullseye; 10.01 is late by 0.01 s.
Accuracy tiers: exactly on target is Perfect 10; within 0.05 s is Hair's breadth; within 0.10 s Nearly there; within 0.30 s Pretty close; within 1.00 s Clock drifted; anything further is Lost in time. The 5 and 20 second targets use the same table.
Why the timer is hidden: while it runs there is no readout and no moving animation you could use as a metronome. Only solo Warm-up shows live numbers, and warm-up stops never count.
No going over: when it is on, stopping even 0.01 s past the target is a bust and never becomes your best. In a group, everyone who did not bust ranks ahead of everyone who did.
Forgot to stop? The round ends by itself at three times the target (30 s for a 10 s target) and is marked Lost in time with a 'Fell asleep?' note. It is left out of your early/late trend.
Leaving the page: switching apps, locking the screen or taking a call while the timer runs voids that try. In a group the same player goes again and the ranking shows 'Redo ×N'. A second press within 0.4 s of Start is ignored so a double tap cannot stop the clock.
Ranking and tiebreaks: players rank by how far they were from the target, equal gaps share a rank. A shared first place can play one tiebreak stop each; in the next round the last-placed player goes first.
Counting tips: split ten seconds into two counts of five, or count 'one-Mississippi' to slow your pace. Check the trend line on your result card — if you keep stopping early, wait half a beat longer next time. Nerves make most people count faster.
