🕹️ How to play

  1. Start pouring: Level 1 is ready the moment the page opens — no start button, no sign-up. Tap a tube to pick it up, then tap another tube to pour the top colour into it. On a computer you can also press 1–9 to pick tubes.
  2. Know when a pour is allowed: You can pour onto an empty tube or onto the same top colour, as long as there is room. The whole top run of one colour moves, as much as fits. Illegal taps shake the tube and the message bar tells you why.
  3. Finish the level: Fill each tube with four layers of one colour — it gets a cork stopper — until every tube is either full of one colour or empty. The Par chip shows the shortest known solution.
  4. Fix mistakes: Undo is unlimited and free, and even Restart can be undone. Out of moves? Tap Hint to see which tube to pour next, or add one empty tube per level.

📖 Rules & variants

Water sort rules: each tube holds four layers. You may only pour the top run of one colour, onto an empty tube or a tube whose top layer is the same colour, and only as much as fits. Every pour counts as one move; a refused pour does not.

Winning: a tube with four layers of one colour is sealed with a stopper and can't be poured from again. The level is solved when every tube is sealed or empty — a colour spread across half-filled tubes does not count.

Stars: finish within par for 3 stars, within par + 3 moves (or par + a quarter on long levels, whichever is more) for 2 stars, and any finish earns 1 star. Using a hint or the extra tube caps that attempt at 2 stars; undone moves don't count.

No moves left: when no pour makes real progress, the board dims, the message bar says so and the Undo and +1 tube buttons pulse. The level is never lost — undo is free and the position is fully reversible.

100 levels in four tiers of 25 — Starter, Easy, Tricky and Master — going from 2 to 8 colours, with some later levels giving you only one empty tube. Every level is unlocked; the level picker shows your stars, best move count and unfinished boards.

Water sort strategy: an empty tube is your most valuable resource, so don't fill it casually. Merge colours onto tubes that already have them, prefer the pour that seals a tube, and check the layer underneath before you pour. When stuck, undo before reaching for help.

❓ FAQ

How do you play water sort puzzle?
In water sort you tap one tube, then another, to pour the top colour across. A pour only works onto an empty tube or the same top colour with room left; four layers of one colour seal a tube, and sealing every colour wins the level.
What to do when you get stuck in water sort?
When water sort gets stuck, undo a few moves until you have an empty tube again and try a different order — undo here is unlimited. You can also tap Hint for the next pour, or add one empty tube per level at the cost of a 3-star finish.
Is every water sort level solvable without an extra tube?
Yes — every one of the 100 water sort levels on this page was proven solvable without the extra tube, and its par is the shortest solution found. If you pour yourself into a dead end, the hint tells you how many moves to undo.
What is the best water sort strategy?
The best water sort strategy is to protect your empty tubes: merge colours onto matching tops first, take any pour that seals a tube, and only use an empty tube to uncover a colour you can finish. Look one layer down before every pour.
How do you get 3 stars in water sort?
To get 3 stars in water sort, finish in no more moves than the par shown above the board, without using a hint or the extra tube. Two stars allow par plus 3 moves, or plus a quarter of par on longer levels.
Can colorblind players play water sort?
Yes. Every layer shows a shape — red circle, blue triangle, yellow square, green diamond and so on — so you can sort by shape instead of colour. The palette also avoids look-alike pairs such as orange and red. Symbols can be turned off in settings.
