🕹️ How to play

  1. Tap the fish: Tap the wooden fish on your phone, or click it / press Space on a computer. Each tap bounces the fish, swings the mallet, floats “Merit +1” and adds one to today's and your all-time count.
  2. Tap fast to build a combo: Taps less than 1 second apart chain into a combo. At 10 a combo badge lights up, and it levels up again at 30, 60 and 108 while the glow behind the fish gets brighter. Alternating two fingers keeps a combo going longest.
  3. Pause to cash in, aim for 108: Stop for more than a second and the streak is tallied — 10 or more pops a “N-tap streak” card. Fill today's bar to 108 for a small celebration; today's count resets at midnight, your all-time count never does.

📖 Rules & variants

Combos: a hand tap within 1 second of the previous one adds to the combo; a pause longer than 1 second ends the streak. Levels: 10–29 Warming up, 30–59 Still water, 60–107 In the flow, 108+ Full 108. Levels only change the glow, never your merit count.

Two tallies: today's merit resets at local midnight and older days move to the last-7-days log; all-time merit only goes up unless you clear it. Crossing 108, 216, 324… today and 1,000 / 10,000 / 100,000 / 1,000,000 all time triggers a celebration.

Auto-tap: one tap every 0.5, 1 or 2 seconds, stopping manually, after 5/15/30 minutes or after 108/1,080 taps. Auto taps still sound and float text but go into their own tally — only taps by hand count as merit, and they never extend a combo. Switching tabs pauses auto-tap until you press Resume.

Floating text: pick Merit +1, Worries −1, Luck +1 or Wealth +1, or write your own (up to 8 characters). Turning combo effects off gives a calm mode with no badge or glow; combos are still recorded.

Example: you're on 23 today, tap 14 times quickly and stop — a “14-tap streak · Warming up” card appears and your best combo becomes 14. The 4 taps from an earlier broken streak still count, so today reads 41 / 108.

Tips: alternate two fingers for a steadier rhythm; use the Soft tone at volume 30 in the office; change the text to your own joke (“Bugs −1”) before taking a screenshot.

❓ FAQ

What is the wooden fish meme and why does it say Merit +1?
The wooden fish (muyu) is a hollow percussion block, and tapping a digital one for “Merit +1” became a stress-relief meme in China. Each tap jokingly earns a point of merit; here it's purely for fun and relaxation, not a religious practice.
How do you get a 108 combo on the wooden fish?
Keep every tap under 1 second apart for 108 taps in a row — roughly 30 seconds of steady rhythm. Alternating two fingers at about four taps per second is far more reliable than mashing with one finger.
Can the wooden fish clicker tap automatically?
Yes. Open Auto, choose a 0.5, 1 or 2 second interval and a stop condition (manual, 5/15/30 minutes, or 108/1,080 taps). A large Stop button stays on screen, it pauses when you switch tabs, and auto taps are tallied separately from merit.
How do I change Merit +1 to my own text?
Tap the Text button at the bottom and pick a preset such as Worries −1 or Luck +1, or type up to 8 characters under Write your own and press Save. Every tap then floats your text, and your counts keep adding up as normal.
Why is there no sound when I tap the wooden fish?
Check whether the badge above the fish says Muted and tap it to unmute. Then check your phone's silent switch and media volume. Browsers only allow sound after your first tap; if you see “Sound is off · Tap to retry”, tap it once.
Does tapping a wooden fish really earn merit?
No — it's an entertainment toy and a running internet joke. The fun is in the satisfying tok-and-bounce feedback, the combos and the daily 108 goal; your stats are stored only in your browser.
