🕹️ How to play

  1. How to ask the Book of Answers: Think of a question that can be answered yes or no. Tap an example, type it, or just keep it in your head. Press and hold the book: after 0.6 seconds you can let go whenever it feels right, and at 2.4 seconds it opens by itself.
  2. Read the page and the stamp: The book falls open on a page number, one line, and a stamp that shows which way it leans: Yes, No, Wait, Act or Reflect.
  3. Keep it or tear it out: Choose Keep this page, or Tear it out and turn to the last page. A torn page never comes back, and the last page is yours whatever it says. Then ask your next question.
  4. Play it at a party: Switch on Party turns, set 2–8 players (names optional) and pass the phone. The top of the book shows whose turn it is. End the round to see a recap of every question, page and torn page.

📖 Rules & variants

One question is one round: hold to focus, let go to open, then keep or tear. A press shorter than 0.6 seconds does not open the book; a full 2.4-second hold opens it automatically. Open it now does the same thing without holding — the page still comes from the deck.

The book has 240 pages, each with one original line. It works like a shuffled deck: no line repeats until every page has been read, and after a reshuffle the first 40 pages of the new pass never repeat the last 40 of the old one. Page numbers are fixed, so a line always lives on the same page.

Tearing: one torn page per question. The torn page is gone for this pass and cannot be undone; your question locks and the next page is kept automatically. How long you hold, what you type and whether you tear never change the deck order.

Asking the same thing twice: if you type the exact question you just asked, the book first reminds you of the page it gave last time. You can ask anyway or change the question.

House rules for groups (optional): ask three times and go with the majority; let the table vote on tearing; the person on your left reads the answer aloud. Answers are meant to be shared, so there is no hidden-screen step.

The Book of Answers is for fun only and is not advice. Your questions stay in this browser; you can turn off question recording or clear your history at any time.

❓ FAQ

How does the Book of Answers work?
Hold a yes-or-no question in mind, press and hold the book, and release when it feels right — the page it opens on is your answer. You do not have to type or say the question; typing only helps you phrase it, and the text never leaves your device.
What questions should you ask the Book of Answers?
Ask questions that can be answered yes or no, one thing at a time: "Should I text them first?" or "Is it time to switch careers?". Open questions like "what should I eat" rarely match a one-line answer, so the page nudges you to rephrase them.
Does the Book of Answers repeat answers?
Not until all 240 pages have been read. Pages are drawn like cards from a shuffled deck, and after the reshuffle the first 40 pages never repeat the last 40 you saw. Reloading the page picks up the same deck where you left off.
Can you ask the Book of Answers the same question again?
You can, but the book reminds you once of the page it already gave you. Within a question you also get one tear: rip out the page you do not like and take the last page instead — though the torn page never comes back.
How do you play Book of Answers with friends?
Turn on Party turns, set 2–8 players and pass one phone around. Each person reads their question aloud, holds the book and shows the answer to the table. The recap at the end lists every question, page and torn page.
Is the Book of Answers real or accurate?
It is a random page for fun, not a prediction or advice, and it never reads your question to pick an answer. What it often does is show you what you were hoping for — the moment you want to tear a page out is an answer in itself.

⚠️ For entertainment only — not advice. Pages are drawn at random and do not depend on your question. Questions and history stay in your browser.
