🔤 Word Guess
Guess the daily 5-letter word in 6 tries — colors show which letters are right, and every answer comes with its meaning
🕹️ How to play
- Type a 5-letter word: Today's puzzle is ready the moment the page opens — no sign-up, no start button. Tap the on-screen keys or use your physical keyboard; letters drop into the first row, and ⌫ removes the last one.
- Press Enter and read the colors: Each tile flips: green with a ✓ means the right letter in the right spot, dashed yellow means the letter is in the word but somewhere else, grey means it isn't in the word. The keyboard keys pick up the same colors.
- Use the clues for your next guess: Keep green letters where they are, move yellow letters to a new spot and stop using grey keys. Turn all five tiles green within 6 tries to win; either way the result card shows the word's part of speech and definition.
📖 Rules & variants
The answer is a common 5-letter English word. A new word arrives at local midnight and everyone gets the same word on the same calendar day. Every guess must be a word from the list — a word that isn't in the list doesn't cost a try; the hint bar tells you why so you can fix the row.
Double letters: exact matches turn green first, then leftover copies turn yellow from left to right, and any copies beyond the number in the answer turn grey. If the answer has one E and you guess TEPEE, the first E is yellow and the other two are grey — the grey only means you used E too many times. The first time it happens, the hint bar explains it once.
Colorblind-friendly by default: green tiles carry a ✓ corner mark, yellow tiles have a dashed border and grey tiles dim their letter. The Colors button next to the legend switches to a high-contrast orange/blue palette in one tap.
Hard mode (Settings, off by default): revealed green letters must stay in place and yellow letters must be used. You can only switch it before your first guess of a round, and hard-mode results get a * in the share text.
Daily puzzles count toward games played, win %, streak and the guess distribution; missing or losing a day resets the streak. After the daily, Practice gives you unlimited extra words and the calendar lets you replay any past puzzle by number — neither touches your streak.
