🕹️ How to play

  1. Add players, pick rules: Add 2–12 players. A preset of "2 players · 15s · elimination · sing · homophone on" lets you start with zero setup; open "House rules" to change mode, timer, penalty and the homophone switch.
  2. See the character, name a song in time: The phone draws a random starting character as referee. On your turn, name a song starting with that character before the countdown ends; whether it counts is decided by everyone — the app never checks a song database.
  3. Tap "Connected" and chain the tail: Tap "Connected" to freeze the timer and type the full title (for a shareable set-list) or just one tail character; the app takes the last Chinese character as the next player's required character and resets the clock.
  4. Get stuck, crown the champion: Running out of time or tapping "I'm stuck" triggers the penalty. Elimination knocks out the stuck player until one remains; scoring gives fixed chances and compares totals; casual never ends until you tap "End game".

📖 Rules & variants

Basics: one phone on the table is the referee timer and draws a starting character. On your turn you must name a song starting with it before the clock runs out, then tap "Connected" and enter the title or tail character; the app takes the tail (the last Chinese character) as the next player's required character. Whether a song is real is decided by the players — the app only tracks whose turn it is, the required character, the chain, and who got stuck; no song bank, no network lookup.

Getting stuck & penalties: the countdown hitting zero or tapping "I'm stuck" marks a stuck turn and shows one house-rule penalty (sing / perform / drink / forfeit, default sing). Content is a house rule the app only displays, never enforces; choosing "drink" adds a minors/responsible-drinking notice.

Three modes: elimination (default) knocks out the stuck player until one remains — the chain champion; scoring gives each player fixed chances (3/5/8, default 5), +1 per successful connect, 0 for stuck, compared by total when chances run out, with co-champions on a tie; casual has no elimination or score — play on until you tap "End game" to view the set-list.

House rules & variants: homophone chaining (chain by a homophone of the tail — the app can't verify homophones); an optional theme banner (love songs / a decade, verbal only); a "reroll" of the starting character at the opening or by consensus to avoid a dead character; empty submissions or input with no Chinese tail character don't count and the timer keeps running, so nobody escapes a stuck turn by submitting nothing.

Records & privacy: the chain lives only in this session for display and sharing — cleared on refresh, never stored or uploaded; only the house rules and player names are saved in your own browser for next time. One shared device, taking turns; no secret info to hide, no online play, no accounts, no global leaderboard.

FAQ

How do you play song-title chain? What are the rules?
Take turns naming a song that starts with the required character, then chain on its tail character; if you can't in time you're stuck and penalized. This site uses one phone as referee: it draws the character, runs the countdown and auto-judges a stuck turn, while players decide if a title counts.
What's the penalty when you get stuck in song-title chain?
Common penalties are sing a song, take a drink, perform, or a verbal forfeit; this site defaults to "sing" for the KTV setting. The content is a house rule the app only prompts; in elimination mode getting stuck also knocks you out.
Can you use homophones in song-title chain?
Yes — homophones are a widely accepted difficulty-lowering house rule. This site turns the homophone switch on by default, but it can't verify homophones automatically, so players still decide whether one counts; turn it off for a stricter game.
What if you hit a rare / hard character in song-title chain?
At the opening or by group consensus you can "reroll" the starting character to avoid a dead end. Throwing songs with rare tail characters at opponents is itself an attacking tactic; otherwise take the stuck penalty or stock up on universal-character songs.
Any universal characters / winning tips for song-title chain?
Stock up on songs starting with universal characters like 我/你/爱/一, and lean on homophones when stuck — the two most useful moves. On offense, hand opponents songs ending in rare characters to force a stuck turn.
What's the difference between song-title chain and lyric chain?
Song-title chain names whole song titles and chains by their first/last characters — light to judge, playable even if you can't sing. Lyric chain sings a line of lyrics containing a character and chains on that line's tail. This site focuses on song-title chain.

⚠️ This is a chaining host & timer, not a song validator — whether a title counts is decided by the players present; for entertainment only.
