🕹️ How to play

  1. Enter the names: Type everyone's name one per line, or tap 3/4/Seats to quick-fill, then put the phone in the middle of the table.
  2. Tweak the odds if needed: Switch to Weighted mode to set each person's odds: set the birthday guest or boss to 0 to exempt them, double the unlucky ones. Live percentages stay visible.
  3. Spin and settle up: Tap Spin; whoever the pointer lands on pays. Spin again or Remove & continue to draw a paying order for splitting the bill.

📖 Rules & variants

The wheel is made of equal-width name slices. Angles are equal for visual fairness, but the hit is weighted by each person's odds - the wheel only shows the result; the real draw follows the percentages always shown on the result card and weight panel.

Two modes: Equal gives everyone the same odds; Weighted gives each person a stepper (0 / 0.5x / 1x / 2x / 3x / 5x). Weight 0 means exempt; each person's percentage is their weight over the sum of positive weights, shown live.

Elimination: tap Remove & continue to drop the winner and spin again for the 2nd, 3rd payer. The round list is temporary - Restore full list or refresh to return to the saved list.

Seat mode swaps names for Seat 1 / Seat 2. No scores, no leaderboard; the optional spin count and most-picked name are local trivia stored only in your browser.

FAQ

What's the fairest way to decide who pays the bill?
Equal-odds random is the most accepted: type everyone's name into the who-pays wheel and spin to pick one to treat - open, reproducible, no black box. For special cases switch to weighted mode and set odds per person; faster and less argued than rock-paper-scissors.
How do you use the who-pays wheel?
Three steps: enter names one per line (or quick-fill 3/4/Seats), optionally switch to Weighted to set someone's odds, then tap Spin and watch the result card announce who pays. Put the phone in the middle so everyone sees it; no signup, just open the page.
Can the bill wheel set different odds per person?
Yes, that's the headline feature. In Weighted mode each name gets an odds stepper (0 / 0.5x / 1x / 2x / 3x / 5x); higher weight, more likely to be picked. Each person's percentage updates live and stays visible before you spin, so weighting is transparent.
Can the birthday person be exempt from paying?
Yes - set their odds to 0. Their slice greys out and shows Exempt, and the wheel never lands on them. Do the same for a boss or guest so the treat is randomized only among the rest, keeping it fair for the occasion.
What are the random ways to decide who treats?
Common ones are rock-paper-scissors, drawing lots, counting off, and the wheel. The wheel is the most direct: fill names once, spin for a result, plus weighting and elimination. Use Remove & continue to draw the 1st, 2nd payer for splitting or taking turns.
